And it's altogether more difficult to draw manly sexy Byronic heroes. I went through a few versions before I settled with this one. Originally my Icelandic Rochester was gonna be blonde... butbutbut it just isn't RIGHT if Jane Eyre's honeybun doesn't have messy raven curls and granite-hewn features.
I was gonna give him a full-on hooked Snape nose, which made him look too Mediterranean. (My mum says he looks like a skinny-ass version of Matt Preston from Masterchef. ) I still don't think I've got it perfect, but this is still just concept art, so whatever.

In this incarnation, his name is Pétur Pétursson (it's better than calling him Rocky McStone ). His late father was the CEO of a Virgin-esque conglomerate called Chiron Media International, based in Reykjavik. Pétur lacks the greed and dishonesty required of a true tycoon, so Pabbi put him to work as a recording executive in the music division. And with a dark, stormy past haunting him, he makes mid-life crises look SEXY.

Jane calls him "sir", or "herra", which is a totally un-Icelandic way to address someone. Pétursson calls her "littil alfur". IT ALL FRICKIN FITS THE BOOK SO WELL!
